For one thing, by this time there were globes to use as models.Ībove is the same map with the Piri Reis map superimposed on it. You do not need to go into space to do it. Draftsmen of the 1500's would have been perfectly capable of drawing such a map given the geographic coordinates. This projection is called an orthographic projection. We can see that any similarity between this map and the Piri Reis Map, apart from what terrestrial navigators knew in the early 1500's, is imaginary. Here's a map that does show the earth from space as seen from a point that roughly matches the Piri Reis Map (20N, 30W). Read the alternative FET: all your answers are there + many more issues, I have answered to the point all your concerns long ago.Īs for the globular earth projections claim. Perhaps some Flat Earth experts will come forth and explain this to us non-believers ? must have also included my First to Seventh Grade Geography Teachers amongst the ranks of those in the Conspiracy. Those old sorcerers, and other persons of a perverse nature who brain-washed us ignorant students into believing in a "Round Earth" (or the "Globe" which was in every class room ) as being the only true representation of land masses, etc. The Mercator Projection for example, was the one I with which I was most familiar : Dating back to my Elementary School Geography Classes. That is said to be one of the reasons for the distortion of Australia. However, I have been taking a look at two of the Flat Earth Maps :Īgain, in my stupid and simplicist viewpoint, IMHO both of them appear to be merely common maps of different "Projections" or versions of flat maps representing a globular earth. (Is that a good word, and if it is, did I spell it correctly ?)
